Here’s a plan to have you surfing in the morning and snowboarding in the afternoon. I hope it’s still feasible in 2024, as it was in 2004. Some of details might have changed, but the broad strokes remain.
In southern Victoria, Australia, the plan goes like this:
- Camp at Tidal River, Wilson’s Prom and wake early
- Surf at Whisky Bay
- Drive to Mt Baw Baw resort
- Snowboard
For extra fun, you can bring bikes to descend the access road or the mountain bike trails (one change since 2004) before heading home.
We did this in late September. It’s possible any time there’s snow, but later in spring gives more daylight to work with, and it helps to stick to your timings!
